LUFS Meter
Our free LUFS Meter implements the ITU-R BS.1770-4 standard to measure integrated loudness, momentary and short-term peaks, true peak (dBTP), and loudness range (LRA) for any audio file — and compares your mix against Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Netflix, and EBU R128 targets, all processed locally in your browser.
Who Is It For?
Music Producers & Mixing Engineers
Checking final masters against streaming platform loudness targets (-14 LUFS for Spotify/YouTube, -16 LUFS for Apple Music) before delivery to avoid automatic gain reduction.
Mastering Engineers
Verifying that delivered masters meet client loudness specifications and platform normalization targets, including true peak limits and LRA requirements.
Podcast & Voice-Over Producers
Ensuring speech audio meets broadcast dialogue standards (-23 LUFS for broadcast, -16 LUFS for podcasts) for consistent playback across listening environments.
Video & Film Post-Production
Checking dialogue and music loudness against Netflix (-27 LUFS) or broadcast EBU R128 (-23 LUFS) delivery specifications.
Independent Artists & Bedroom Producers
Getting professional loudness analysis without expensive metering plugins — understanding whether a mix is too hot or too quiet for streaming before release.
How It Works
Upload any audio file and click "Measure loudness". The tool implements the full ITU-R BS.1770-4 pipeline in your browser: it applies a two-stage K-weighting filter (a high-shelf pre-filter at ~1682 Hz and a high-pass filter at ~38 Hz) to each channel, computes mean square power in overlapping 400 ms blocks, applies an absolute gate at -70 LKFS and a relative gate at -10 LU below the ungated mean, then calculates integrated loudness. Short-term and momentary peaks are derived from 3 s and 400 ms blocks respectively.
Features
- Full ITU-R BS.1770-4 K-weighting filter implementation
- Integrated loudness (LUFS) with absolute and relative gating
- Momentary peak LUFS (max 400 ms block)
- Short-term peak LUFS (max 3 s block)
- True peak approximation (dBTP)
- Loudness Range (LRA) — 10th–95th percentile spread
- Platform comparison table: Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Tidal, Amazon Music, SoundCloud, Netflix, EBU R128
- 100% browser-based — your audio never leaves your device
